“Mad, Relentless, Scary, Fun” is how my programme director – Stuart Mays – described the initiative we’ve been running at at Global Media and Entertainment.
I’ve been the Programme Manager for “Digital Growth” for the last year. Global are the people who own Capital FM, Heart, Classic FM, Smooth, Gold, and others. A very successful radio company who want to go big on digital audio and advertising.
We’ve done some great stuff in the last 12 months. Some of it very public, like the Digital Audio Exchange (DAX) and the next generation of mobile apps (e.g. Capital FM App). And some that is hidden away; expect to see more digital innovation coming out of Global in the near future.
It has been a real bash.
So why did Stuart describe the Digital Growth programme like that …
Mad – We didn’t know where we were going to end up and things come at us from all sides
Relentless – There was a lot of work to do and it seemed never ending
Scary – Some of the challenges were terrifying
Fun – But the work was fun; in fact work should be fun
I’ve leaving Global this week for pastures new. But wow, it certainly was mad, relentless, scary and, most of all, fun.
