I love software development. Good thing too since I’ve been doing it for over 30 years.
To make a living I am in independent Agile Programme Manager offering professional services, consultancy and training.
Amongst other achievements I saved the BBC millions of pounds by bringing social media into the BBC Newsroom (with BBC Journalism Portal), led the web engineering team that developed BBC iPlayer (version 1), delivered BBC Democracy Live (got the Media Guardian Innovation Award for Best Use of Web Platforms for that one), and delivered a range of shrink-wrapped internet security products for a successful start up – MailMarshal, WebMarshal.
My approach is:
- Agile: Getting software teams moving quickly and lightly with Scrum, XP, Lean, Kanban, DSDM, or whatever the latest thing is
- Pragmatic: Doing what works rather than what a particular Agile method, guru or article says
- Disciplined: Applying pragmatic agile to programme, portfolio and project management
- Delivery focussed: Whether releasing great product or realising business benefit, software is all about delivery
It’s a Delivery Thing
